MF150 Gas Engine Oil Choice

I acquired a MF150 with a cont. gas engine with 2600 hours. I looking for recommendations on oil to use (regular or synthetic) and what weight oil. Going into winter in MD. Book says 30 weight for 30-90 degrees. I will be down to the 20 degree area if I need to move snow. I'm looking to see what other people are using...
Thanks...

Well, it's not a 135 but I have a 65 gas with the Continental. 10-40 is what I use, I think it's TSC brand right now.

15w-40, rated CD or higher. the oil has more zddp anti-wear than the S rated oils like SG.
The anti-wear is needed for the old style tappets and camshaft.

I use shell rotella 15w40 diesel oil in my to35.
Holds good oil pressure and has zinc for bearing protection.

I still run 5 old Massey tractors here on the farm, and use 15/40 in all of them except the one I use in the winter with the loader on, that one gets 10/40 valvoline. 15/40 gets really stiff below 20 degrees F or so, even the 10/40 at 20 below is stiff enough but it always starts, you could use a zinc additive if it would make you feel better, but I don;t. I also have a diesel tractor with a snow blower on it, that one gets 15/40 full synthetic year around and always starts in the winter. To the guys using Rotella T, you better check on the zinc, with the new spec I don't think it has much zinc in it any more. I use some Rotella but it seems to make a lot of blow by and smoke off of idle, I'm starting to shy away from it, but have friends that use it by the drum in every thing. I think any major brand oil will be just fine.

We run 15-40 in all of ours as well. Right now mobil has a rebate going which makes the oil cheaper than the house brands, and I notice in our bigger diesel engines it doesn't burn so fast.

I have seen the lighter oil with a
C rating at ag dealerships. Most places only carry the S rated lighter oils.

VR1 Valvoline racing oil of any weight. It has all the additives for flat tapit cams. They have taken them out of all the diesel oils now, as they ruin cats. And diesel trucks have them now.
even tractors are starting to get them.
