MF 135 Hydraulic relief valve

I have a 1969 Massey Ferguson 135 with a 152AG Perkins motor and 6 speed transmission without a pressure control lift and I"m looking for some help with a hydraulics problem. I was cutting down my grass in my pastures with a rotatory cutter when the lift all of a sudden dropped down. The lift will raise with no weight on it but I"m able to push it down with my hand. I always got good information from this forum in the past so I looked a some postings in this forum. From what I read the lift acted like there was a leak somewhere in the hydraulic system. I drained about 3 gallons of fluid from the system and removed the draft response control cover on the right side. I turned the turned the pump on and noticed fluid squired out of what I think is the pressure relieve valve. I think that"s the problem. Can this be changed out without removing the lift cover? It looks like a tight fit through the draft response control cover. I"m including a picture of the valve with the pump running.

You might get a cut off box end wrench in there. You sure don't have anything to loose but the wrench. I changed mine when I had the lift cover off working to replace the lift cylinder rings.

I'm thinking the OEM relief valve was 1900 psi, replaced with one rated at 2300 psi.

a thin wall socket will do it . I would have to look but we may have used a spark plug socket. I do know it can be done and you are half way there

I straitened the offset on a box end wrench and shortened it to a bought 5 inches long. Works fine on a 165.

I've changed pressure relief valves on N series Fords without removing the lift covers using inexpensive "C" and "S" box end wrenches from Harbor Freight.

Might work for you if you cannot do it with a deep socket and ratchet.

Thanks everybody, I just could not break the valve free. I was able the get ¾ wrench on it but there wasn"t enough room to put some leverage on the wrench. I ended up pulling the lift cover.
