MF135 Z145 Engine Block

Hello. I have a MF135 with the Z145 4 cyl Continental engine. I need an engine block or complete engine as this one has cracks between the cylinders. Does anyone know where I can get a new or good used? Thank You

Cracking between the cylinders is common on continental gas engines... It was a known problem when the first Ferguson TE-20 and TO-20's came out. That's when they devised the tension rod fix. Although its not as common on the Z145 and Z134 engines as the earlier Z120 and Z129, it does happen on them. As long as the the block is not split down to the main bearings it will be ok. The head gasket seals to the top of the sleeves and orings seal the bottom of the sleeves in the block so unless the block splits completely down to the crank it will not hurt anything. If your dead set on it you can buy another block or engine and possibly end up with another cracked one or you can send your block off and have it furnace brazed. That's how they are repairing the remanufactured engines that are for sale. I have a TO-20 that has a cracked block I have ran continuously for two years doing all the plowing, discing, raking hay,etc... It hasn't gave any problems at all, but I did pour half a bottle of liquid glass in it when I first got it.

Not getting oil in the anti freeze or anti freeze in the oil. The engine was burning quite bit of oil. Seen the cracks when we tore it apart.

I just googled liquid glass. All I could find is a fabric protectant. Can you give me more information on the liquid glass that you used?

That is what I use and have used it several times before in other things. It's the only one I know of that will work with antifreeze and you can leave in the cooling system. Lots of people condemn it, but I have never had a problem with it when it's used properly. I have a box truck with a cracked block and head and I used that 7 or 8 years ago and it's still running great with no issues.

I have a parts tractor with a Z134 that shows no cracks. I also have a head that has already been to the machine shop and reworked. I also have a gasket set still in the wrapper. I think I have a set of piston rings still in the box. We should talk.
