MF35 - bearing parts ID

Question from a Massey nooby. Just purchased a
'61 MF35 Diesel Deluxe without multipower. First
tractor in years and my first Massey.

When I got it, it had sat out in the rain and the
rear end/transmission was overfull due to water
getting in thru a torn shifter boot. After
draining both sumps and flushing it with diesel, I
cleaned the filter screen and wiped out the sumps
and found numerous bearing parts near the filter.
Based on what I found, the pieces are from a
bearing cage that was approximately 1-3/4" OD and
the needle bearings are about 3/8" in width. The
only clue that I have at this point is that the
tractor has a subtle knocking sound when driven in
2nd gear, either range. Other than the knock,
that the previous owner claimed was there when
they bought it 4 years ago, the tractor runs fine
thru all the gears and doesn't seem to have any
obvious transmission/differential issues. Any
thoughts on which bearing came apart and what
issues it may cause?

Could you clarify that the needles are in fact 3/8" in width. That's might big.
If they are needles from an enclosed race, I'd say from the size of the bearing cage (1-3/4"), it would be the race that supports the front of the PTO shaft.
Symptoms of this bearing failing would be a heavy knock while lifting a weight on the linkage, or the PTO selector lever jumping out of engagement.
If it's not multipower, that rules out the transmission input bearing. Maybe another bearing would be the carrier bearing inside the drive shaft from the hi-low unit, to the shear tube?
Other knowledgeable persons here may be able to help further,
Evan.

Measured one of the needles from the bearing and it is 3/32" diameter, 11/32" wide shoulder to shoulder, and 27/64" wide pin to pin.

Tough call... It might have been fixed already and they just didn't find those pieces... Or... The knock you're hearing is a shaft banging back and forth in the transmission... To be safe, and if it were my tractor, I would take it apart and fix it properly... I also have a 1961 MF35 Deluxe and have grown quite fond of it. I think it will out last me if I take care of it... And may out last my son (if he takes care of it too)....
