Mh 30 gas standard

I saw this tractor today, and it has flathead engine that has words "Willys Super Hurricane" on head surface. I don"t remember seeing this on other MH30"s. Is it a 162 cu." Continental engine? Did factory install these? History?

masseys are very versatile chassis and very parts swap friendly. most likely 1. the original engine wore out and a farmer found that one cheap. or 2. the owner thought he was getting a more powerful engine as an upgrade.

is is 162 cu. inch in size? Is power comparable?

If it is a Willy's Super Hurricane it's about 75 HP at 4000 RPM. 134 CI F-head. Inlet over exhaust valve. Should have a small rocker cover. If not and it's a flathead it is probably a Go Devil! Still 134 CI, but only 60 HP.

That being said. If either of thes are governed at 2000-2200 they should be close to the 30 horse the F162 had. And the rear in a 30 will easily hold up to those engines at full song...

A MH30 rear will handle a red ram hemi for quite some time, before grenading (pull tractor) . I run a BMC diesel in mine on FEL duty and it works great.
