The pto on my 135 was working great, then stopped working while finish mowing. It"s what i believe to be the independent power take off. Any ideas what would make it go from great to not working. P.S the pto still turns with no load but not under load. Would like to tear into it, have IT manual, but would like some idea were to start.
Thanks in advance for any help. Greg

Your IPTO pump filter is clogged. On my 150, I could lever a 2x4 against the PTO shaft and stop it. There is a small plug near the lever where you can install a pressure gauge, should be 125-150 PSI. Mine was down to 35 PSI.

Now the really bad news, you will have to remove the top-link cover to get to the filter.

I'll post a picture for you in the morning, I'm on a tablet and the pics are on my computer.

Tom: Wouldn"t the pto gradually stop working correctly if the filter was plugged rather a sudden problem? Just curious. thanks for the reply I will look into that. GREG

Relief valve could of stuck open, pump gone south, clutch plates broken or warped. 1st is to check the pressure. Pressure at test plug only when lever is engaged. Any repair require you to open the lid.
