I have trouble controlling the depth of my box blade on my MF 240 (UK built). I’ve been told by folks on this forum that scrape blades and box blades don’t require using the Draft control. My problem is this—as the box blade fills with dirt, I cannot raise it a small amount using the Position lever. To cause it to raise at all, I have to momentarily pull the Position lever all the way up to get it to start moving. Then, before I can lower the box blade again, it has lost most of its load. It is as if the lift mechanism cannot get enough pressure unless the Position lever is moved a large amount.
Given my inexperience with tractors, I’m open to it being at least partially “Operator Error”, but I don’t think it’s all me. I’m a very good mechanic and machinist, and even though I do not have any experience working on tractors, I think something is wrong.
Is something out of adjustment, or do I just have a worn out hydraulic system which cannot generate enough pressure to lift the implement?
