135 not moving

135 with dual range trans will not move in any gear. I can look inside the trans through the oil fill on top of the trans and see that the output shaft is turning. What connects the trans to the rear? A drive shaft? If so, is there some sort of coupling on the output that may have broken? Can I separate the trans from the rear and slide apart without removing anything inside first? Naturally I need the tractor right now, it has water barrels mounted on the front and is used to pull transplanter. Any and all advice will be appreciated.

You may have sheared the drive coupling. It is the coupling with a cotter pin shown in this picture. You may be able to see it with the right, round cover removed, the one with the dip stick. Pull the bottom bolts out of the cover and drain the trans/drive oil to that point before removing cover. To replace the coupling I think the top link cover has to come off. Make sure you remove the linkage roller before lifting cover.

Thanks, I will be on it tomorrow. I will remove the round cover first and take a look and then remove the top cover as I know I am not lucky enough to get an easy fast cheap repair. Thanks for the info.

You should not need to remove the top cover. When
the cotter is removed the coupler will slide over
the short shaft and will slide out the side as a
unit. Chuck
