position control

On my MF 35, I have to move the position control on the hydraulic lift fairly high up the quadrant before it engages. I believe the side inspection plate has to be removed and the fingers (vertical levers) have to be adjusted so the control valve is engaged differently. Is this a hard task with limited space available?

I believe what you are referring to, is the clearance between the vertical draft and position levers and the control valve lever roller.
This should be set with both levers in their sector marks. If the marks are not still visible, shift each lever until it's respective vertical lever has moved to the end of the travel in the guide.
From there, adjust the 7/16" AF nyloc nut on the end of the control lever pivot rod, until you achieve a slight clearance on the vertical levers.
Use a detented 3/8" drive socket and ratchet for this task. This way, you wont drop the socket off the ratchet while carrying out this adjustment,
Good luck,
Evan.
