Thanks for the response. I will get the filter out and have a look. I have a rather light backblade on it now but I will hang a 3 bottom plow on it to see how it goes.
I am used to a Ford 9-N 3 pt which will fall fast at the drop of the lever, waiting for the backblade to drop is taking some getting used to.
It may be binding of some linkage or the geometry of the attachment. I will look into that also.
I am stunned that this tractor model has so many optional configurations of hydraulics and it seems that there is no one answer for any problem.
It has a loader, and a valve that the previous owner added so he could run a wood splitter more easily. I don't get it yet, but I will.
I plan to own this tractor the rest of my life so the filter cleaning is something that I will do even if it is not directly related to the 3 pt slow drop.
The oil looks clear, and I will probably drain it thru a filter and reuse it
