F40 R serial number but a hi clearance model

My Ferguson 40 is a high clearance model. It is a wide front, not a tricycle or double row crop wheels. All hi 40 models I have seen have a serial number that begins with a C. This serial number starts with an R, like a rowcrop. The hi 40 came with the 3 front wheel options. So the question is, can a hi 40 have a serial number that begins with an R or has the dash been replaced?

R-- is for Row Crop,C-is for Hi Crop, S- is for Standard Utility. Middle letter(G) is for gas, last letter(M) is for double clutch or live PTO.You serial should read CGM to be correct. If it is a 1956 model in the center grill the nut that opens grill is in the middle. The 1957 will have the nut at top.Who knows what has happen in the last 50 years.
