Has it had a loader on it most of it's life? If it has then I wouldn't give as much for it as one that doesn't have a loader. The 165 is probably one of the best tractors Massey ever produced, but the front end wasn't really designed for constant loader use in the standard 165's. Most of the 165's I have been around that have had a loader on them for years, the front ends are worn out. I have even seen the cradle cracked under one, so I would check it very carefully, and the front end and steering is costly to rebuild in one.Around here a good 165 is a $4500.00 to $5500.00 tractor.

He has had the tractor 28yrs and the loader has been on it the whole time....It runs good, seems tight...Had the engine rebult at 3200hrs due to main bearing. Also had new clutch put in then and rebuilt anything else that made sense while at the dealer, including hydraulics, injector pump. Has 4200hrs now. He is selling since he bought a brand new 4wd MF with loader. This guy is obviously meticulous about his stuff after seeing his shop/barn/farm....All his equipment looks like new even tho it all has some age.

I am getting a little bit afraid of it now tho considering the comments on the multipower and the effects of the loader on the front end.

Any other thoughts out there??

I have owned a 165 diesel for 12 years now,not a problem or compliant. The factory hydraulic pump is low volume which causes slow responce to the loader but there is a front mount pump that solves that problem.with the way you describe the care of this tractor and the recent repair work, sounds like a pretty good buy to me. Just my two cents worth.
