Massey Harris 22 bogging down

My grandpa just gave me his massey harris 22 that he restored several years back but there are a few issues as it has set for a while. Another problem it has is that it will run fine in 1st through 3rd gear. However when I put it in fourth gear it bogs down and dies just won't go.

Fresh gas and a full tuneup can work wonders.

What was your grandfather's idea of "restored?" Did he rebuild the engine, or just slap some fresh paint on a tired old tractor?

It could be a lot of things, the first I would do is make sure it has a good blue spark and the timing is OK.

I would then move on to fuel.

Do not replace components unless you find they are bad.

Make sure the engine is at operating temperature. My 333 does this until it gets around 180 degrees. Continental engines a COLD natured.

Petrol (gas)tractor? Does it do the same in the lower gears when pulling hard. Does pulling out the choke (strangler) improve power; if so maybe too weak a mixture.
Could be partly blocked jets or just needs adjustment.
Just a thought.
