m/f 1105tractor

need opinions on fair price of m/f 1105tractor. fair tires,good sheetmetal,cab, seems to run fine no idea of hours on unit. thankyou KC.

drain some oil out of the planetaries just in from the rear wheels if it looks like aluminum anti-seize you don't want it when the gears grind up they will contaminate the hydraulic system and ruin everything

It depends where you are and if it has 3 point hitch, working air con and that kinda stuff.
round us in Manitoba/ Canada with none of the above, auction price would be $3000 or less for a rough one, to about 5- $6000 for a very nice one.
The further south in the U.S you go they seem to get up to $8000 + guys seem to love them.
There are dealers here wanting stupid prices but they sit a fair while until the discount to move it on kicks in. I know of an 1135 with 3pth with an $11.000 price tag right now. Its been there well over a year.
Here guys don't really want 1105's too much they are under powered for the size 1135 is the same tractor and a turbo fitted so has a little more poke.


According to most of the MF guys on this board there are no problems with these 11 series tractors. I was told I was an idiot more than once when I commented on 1135 and 55 transmissions being junk, and having problems like the other poster said. Ive worked shop and wrecking yards to get wise to the problems
Good luck in your search, and be careful with multi power if it's fitted (12 speed) and the pto clutch packs if it's worked hard for a living, The fine splines in the pto drive line can strip too either at the flywheel or inside the coupling from the gearbox to the rear axle If ones worn the other is not far behind usually.
The outer of that shaft that takes the gearbox drive to the rear axle can also strip too in some cases with years of hard pulling.

They are one of those tractors if you get a good one they are good. if you get a bad one you get a hole pile of trouble just like anything else from my experience.
you also have to remember they are 30 odd years old and not the most quietest, comfortable, convenient tractor drive, and to spend a long day in they have there operational quirks too .

Gee Robert Major, with all your knowledge , what brand tractor would you recommend?

the 1105 is turbocharged. it was just detuned compared to the 1135. so i expect you could turn the 1105 right up to 1135 power.

they were pretty well liked by those that had them, I was told to make sure the 3pt. works and if it didn't there is a pintle valve that sticks and is alot of work to free it up, no personal experience on this just what I was told

Keith $3500.00 will buy one here. Brother in law had several, they all ate up the tranny input shaft splines.
Replacement shafts from Massy did the same thing, wound up taking the shafts to a machine shop and having the splines welded up. Had hyd problems with one. He finally traded them for Case and Stieger tractors

A stock 1105 turned up will never match 1135 power, they were almost turned up all the way they were as injection pump had 7.5 MM plungers while 1135 pump had 10 MM plungers. Less turbo boost on 1105 also with smaller compressor side too.

More than one person can comment on a forum and not every body will have a rose tinted glasses vision of certain tractors !
I have worked and done a fair bit of different things with tractors in shops, wrecking yards, and on farms driving them and selling a few too. Also I have asked a lot of questions around when I was thinking of buying a tractor. Or even seen what is going on in the back at more than one color dealership when talking to mechanics.

"ALL" tractors can and do have there own problems that's why dealers have Workshops. They are not to just service and PDI new stuff!.
The last tractor I bought was a Valtra valmet. There are a lot of guys have them round us and beat the heck out of them.
They are doing better than some of the other colors for the abuse they get.
yes there can even be problems with them too. The price used made better sense for less hours than a 10.000hr something else that was 5 years older
Funny thing is Agco just stopped importing new ones to North America They want to push the Massey with the valtra (sisu) motors in.
There are a few guys don't want a Massey or Deutz, and are pretty mad about it round us. I was talking to the local Agco dealer this week, He told me exactly the same thing.
All I can say is when buying a tractor you have to pick your color and options, pay the price you can afford and hope it's a good one and lasts a few years before you trade it or start piling money into repairs.
I have my views and you have yours Im gonna say, Lets leave it alone and call it quits before we have a falling out between our 2 different opinions, and wreck this board for the others.

thanks for the onfo. i didnt realize they changed the turbo and pump parts for that model.

Hi Ok I figured it was just an updated version of the 1100 they had no turbo or the ones I have seen didn't. The 1130 had turbo and thought that was or is just updated to 1135 in the newer series.Don't know much Massey history this side of the Atlantic only what I learned driving, or fixed on the 1135s or 55s that falls apart.
