Starter Solenoid Short MF-65 Diesel

I have a MF-65 diesel, the positive battery post on the starter solenoid has a short and when I put the multimeter across it and the engine block I get 0.004 ohms of resistance. This is a brand new starter and solenoid, I installed them, cranked up the tractor ran it for about 15 seconds and then shut it down to finish some other repairs. When I went to start it again the battery was drained from the short, which led me to find the problem.

Any ideas as to what the problem in the solenoid may be?

Thanks to Chuck I have a proper wiring diagram and will run new wires on Friday, but I need to fix the solenoid as well.

Check to see if its the right solenoid.

Last spring I had a solenoid that was wired wrong internally. I could start the tractor by bypassing the solenoid and running a jumper wire to the coil.

One wire that was supposed to be soldered on one side of the solenoid was wired to the opposite side. Ordered one from a different manufacturer to fix the problem.

I think what happened was the solenoid was packaged in the wrong box at the factory. If I flipped it 180 degrees it would have worked on a different starter motor.

The starter and solenoid came preassembled from Rare Electrical, since it was delivered as a single unit I think that they belong together. I have a call in for help from their Tech Desk, but have not heard from them in the past 4 hours. I called back and am told that they have my information and will get back with me.
