mf 235 vs 240

i'm looking at 2 different tractors. both about the same condition, both about the same money. one is a mf 235 the other a mf 240. both with loaders. can someone tell me the real difference between them? thanks

The 240 is newer but the 235's were notorious for power steering problems. So much so that MF dropped them after only 2 years and replaced them with the 245 and less HP 230. Go with the 240. If you see a 245, they are an excellent tractor too. The 235 is about the only dark spot of all the MF tractors that used the same power train. The 240 went back to it's 135 roots but is upgraded. A few weeks ago on this forum a museum estimated there were about 2 million 135's and 240's produced either by MF or under license from MF. 2 million users can't be wrong! LoL

What is funny is MF went right from 135 to 240 in the UK, but here in North America we got the 235 etc.

we have an82 245 with about 9--hrs and it has steering issues (it was displayed at the 1982 farm progress show w/loader) we never took possession of the loader but the clutch shaft was broke and the steering does the shimmy shake at times

it is a fine upgrade from our 35 and 135.
