Whats all needed to put a 1000 pto shaft on a 285? I found a craigslist ad for a housing for 1000 rpm, but Dad was always under the impression that all you had to do was swap out the shafts, that they had different splines or whatever inside that engaged with a different internal shaft.
It's nothing we need as our only implement with 1000 rpm is our chopper, and we pull that with a Oliver 1855 that's putting out 105 HP at the pto. It's just one of those things that'd be nice to have in case of either future implements or if we're in a bind. Maybe for opening up the corn fields, as our 1855 doesn't fit between the rows.
