I bought it. The housing is shorter and so is the shaft, makes sense so then the length is right for the PTO shaft to the center of the drawbar hole, instead of moving the drawbar. The guy bought 2 of them at an auction a couple weeks ago just down the road from his place (Dad knew about the auction, but didn't tell me about it or go himself) and they had 3 285's, and they used the 1000 RPM to run stalk shredders in the fall. Maybe a few other odd jobs.
He saw the shafts on the hay wagon separate from the tractors and bought them, and was hoping to buy one or 2 of the 285's but they went higher than he was willing to go. Said he sold the other one already so a guy in the southern part of the state.
In his shop he was making an articulated tractor out of 2 large Massey L&G tractors. Sounds like he did it a while ago, but the 13 HP engine was too weak so he was swapping in a 23 HP engine instead... Was pretty neat.
