I wonder what the pressure is coming out of power steering pump. I don't have multi-power and wonder if they came out without a cooler if no multipower. The IT manual doesn't mention a cooler on the disel engine models in removing the radiator and it does on the gas models.........

I have a good cooler off of a ford pickup I could splice in if the pressure is not too high since it has hose instead of steel fittings?

I am also wondering about adding a spin on hydraulic oil filter to this thing somewhere too

Multi-Power wasn't available yet when the 85 was being built.

We just finished parting out a Massey 85 that had multi power. The pump has been sold. Lots of 85 parts in stock.

You parted something out, but it wasn't an 85. What was the ser no?

The serial tag states MF85 RGM 801343 this tractor had a multi power pump in the transmission just below the lower right step.

Oil cooler is on the return side of power steering valve, and is supply line to input shafts retainer in trans front. Pressure is 150-200 at PTO control valve, is regulated by a valve built into retainer cover. That is the pressure the cooler has do deal with. If tractor is used hard in hot weather cooler is a good idea. If not, it would not be needed. I had an 85 gas that cooler was removed from, no trouble as it never ran more than 2 hours each time it was used. Super 90 had a cooler too, but was designed much different than 85 was.

Yes, this is return oil to PTO closed center shift valve. Pressure is regulated by a valve in transmission front plate.

So, sounds like if I want to brush hog with it in the summer, I had better come up with a cooler? The lines don't look like they have been changed or altered. I wonder if a transmission cooler off of a Ford pickup with the rubber hoses could handle the pressure? Or should I flare the ends on the cooler and make up some short hydraulic hoses?

THANKS

Spring you have missing is for draft control follow up linkage, senses draft control frame movement.
