Super 90 glowplug

All S90 tractors I have seen had intake thermostart unit installed, not sure about 410 combines though. Have seen combine engines used as a replacement. Was not on US 285 or 1085 models.

Hi Rod
There were two different starting aids for the super 90s
The one you have should have a small "starter reserve tank" on the other side of the fuel tank. Right where the return line goes back into the fuel tank. I understand that when you turned the key backward to "Start Aid" it would pump in extra fuel and heat it at the glow plug you have. We have one with this attachment and it went crazy on us once. When you started the tractor at any time. The tractor would roar away for about 5 seconds then idle back to normal. Took us a while to figure that one out. We just removed the whole aparatus and plugged the holes.
The other starting aid had an either injection port on the right side of the steering console. An aluminum pipe with a screw off cover. You just sprayed some either in while starting. The air intake would suck it through a pipe to the same hole in the intake where your glow plug is. They didnt have the glow plug for this option of course.

So you're saying that there are two kinds. One came with glow plug but no ether assist and the other without glowplug but ether assist. That seems to be my situation. Thanks

Yes, MF 410 combines used A4 300 also. Have a 318 Perkins in my S 90 puller to get the 5 inch stroke crank, same engine used in 285-1085 tractors and 540 combine. Will bolt in if tractor oil pan is used, or tractor front casting is redrilled.
