Topic: Anybody else have spindle issues?

Last winter we had to replace one of the spindles on our 285 because the threads stripped. A number of years before that, we had to do the same thing on the other side. The first time, they were stripping and I hit a dead furrow doing tillage work and the wheel popped off. The second, the hub kept coming loose and Dad found the cause. I fixed the threads and built up and turned down the shaft again where it was worn. Good as new now.

| The Massey 65's with the standard duty front axles had the same problems, especially when fitted with cast centres. The thread size for memory was 3/4". Heavy duty models went to a larger spindle diameter as well as an 1 1/4" stub thread. |
