MF 40 ID Please

I just bought an Industrial MF 40. The guy said it was a 1977, but I don"t think so according to early entries in this forum. Can someone confirm the model and year so I can buy the correct operator & service manuals? It has the hard nose, 3 cyl diesel, instant reverse, no PTO. The model # on the loader looks like 800. Serial number on the dash shows (I think) 127987. Attached some pics. Also, what is "TLB" on some manuals? Thanks!!!

Look on bottom of oil pan up front year of engine is embossed in big letters or serial# on tractor data.com .I have a 1971 40 Traper

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I did check external_link but I did not think to look at a 40B to compare. So it seems I have a MF 40 not a 40B, which means it"s no younger than 1975.

The oil pan just in front of the drain plug shows the following, I don"t see a correlation to year though:
3271
24866 N
37172320
D.A. 21900
8
What does TLB mean on some manuals? Thanks!

Loader looks like a model 34, that someone has removed the Z-bar bucket linkage from and converted to model 32 style bucket hydraulics. You can look them up at: http://www.agcopartsbooks.com

Looks like a 40 and the casting date should be on the oil pan but I agree someone butchered the MF34 4 bar linkage loader. There's almost no rollback for the bucket. If the casting date is before about 68 it might not be a 40. If the loader plate says MF 34 it is a 40 but if it says 200 it's an earlier model, possibly a 2200.

If it has a 3 Cyl Perkins diesel, there is just a chance that it has a Lucas starter motor, possibly a Lucas M35G, if that is the case, (and if it is the original !), Lucas had the convenient habit of putting the date of manufacture on the body alongside the serial number, in the format '12 77' (Dec 77). It's an outside chance, but if you have no other confirmation, that's a possibility - if you can get through the usual paint accumulations ! Unfortunately othe manufacturers didn't do this.

Hey Chas,
The starter is a Delco Remy. It's the only part on the tractor not painted so I was confident it wasn't original. Thanks for the added info. I'm good on what manuals I need now - 71-75 MF-40.
