i have a 1951 ferguson tea20 the trans fluid leaks into the bellhousing does this have to be split to repair it does not seem to be leaking from the main shaft and where can you get seals for this thanks marty

Yes it will have to be split.I get seals from Sparex. Most all parts suppliers should have seals. A&I will have them.May also have them on this site on the left.(parts)

Didn't find in Sparex parts, but it is available from Steiner # ABC387---$7.20--(1.375 I.D.--2.00 O.D--.337 wide) Also if you have a bearing supply in your city you can give these dimensions and they can order it.It should cost less at a bearing supply.

Just be careful when removing the front bearing housing from the gearbox as there is a thrust washer in there that could fall down.....simply raise the front of the 'box slightly so it remains on the shoulder and be gentle when pulling that shaft. I have found the sparex seals we get to be too large for the shaft so I just take the shaft and housing to a bearing and seal stockist as Mickey said. Also check the shaft for rust pitting where the seal runs. The old leather seals attracted moisture and if sitting for a long time this caused rust.
