MF1233 front 4-WD locking up

Hello Gentlemen,

I have a MF1233 Iseki tractor. It had a loader on it before I bought it. When in 4 wheel drive I sometimes hear a popping noise. It seems to be coming from tube that leds into the front housing unit. It will often lock a front wheel. It's rolling then the wheel just locks up. Most of the time it's the right wheel but the left one will do it also.
There is no play in the front wheels.
It works fine in 2 wheel drive.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike

I can't say I'm familiar with this tractor, but I'd do a bit "Sherlock Holmsing" first off.
Pull the oil drain plugs on both the L.H and R.H. front axle final drives, as well as the centre axle beam, and the transmission in the vicinity of the 4wd "drop-box". No need to completely drain the housings, just the first 50 mils or so should give you an indication if your problem is a mechanical failure. Any heavy metal particles or "suspended metal" in the oil could give you a pointer as to where your problem may be.
good luck,
Evan.

Hi it could be the diff not working right or the reductions are worn or missing a tooth and it catches wrong once in a while, depending how hard it works. I had A Belarus here that was like that wasn't a consistant issue. Peronally I would start at the diff if you say the noise comes More from the center and affects both wheels.
Bad news is it probably won't be cheap and not sure on parts availability for it either :(.
Good luck
Regards Robert
