He means that the two parts are machined to fit together as a pair and so a head from one pump won"t work with a rotor from another pump.
They are not interchanageable separately.

| I got a rotor out of a parts pump today and it works just fine. The rotor does not actully touch any other metal parts except for the threads. The transfer pump blades are what pumps the fuel when it enters the liner. New seals no leaks I'm Happy to say I put all new seals in myself with a minor setback of cracking the rotor when putting it back. I made a tool to tighten the second rotor with less torqe than i used the first time.
