Just purchased FE35

Hi Guys. Just purchased a 1956 FE35, serial number SGM 59xx and engine number SF17xxELD. Painted red/grey.
I believe that these were originally painted grey/gold. Did they originally have 19" wheels. There are now 16" on this. It goes really well and is very fast. Is this normal?
Right now it has a MF35 bonnet and side panels (I think).

Congratulations, I have posted a photo of a diesel FE35 which I
painted for a customer. Also the other pic is of the very first FE35 in
Massey Fergusons visitor centre in France. The front grille on this
special tractor was chromed as a one-of for special display.(The old
guy also has superior DNA,as he is 94 and travelled by coach to
France with us!) A1956 FE is very scarce now as not many were
made due to disruption in the factory. Post some pics please.

Here is a photo when I purchased it. I think it has a MF35 bonnet. Getting back to the front tyres, were they 4.00 x 19?
 
I've got a 35 standard gas, have to look at the tires, mine has Nordick Tractor Company tag on the dash.

That is the correct push button bonnet/hood and the correct
wheels, though some potato growers liked the narrow 4.00x19
fronts.

Great looking tractors, I want one. Samn40, 2tractors, that's
impressive finish jobs. Really like they grey-gold combination.
Did they make a FO 35 with the same sheet metal??
 
I'm trying to confirm my model. If it is a 1956 FE35, then it is a FERGUSON, not a Massey Ferguson, is that correct?
Where will I find the casting dates? Thanks. Rod.
ok. Just been out to check. Clutch housing date 23.10.56. Rear axle housing 26.10.6. Still looking for (petrol) engine casting.
Also the bonnet has one pushbutton at rear and two latches.
 
Your tractor is definitely a Ferguson, and should have Ferguson
badges on both sides of the hood and also the front. The push
buttons are now available to buy as are the badges, but they are
pricey! The finish would have been grey and gold, just like the two I
posted previously. Mail me if I can help you in any way. You have a quite rare
tractor there, which if done right will draw plenty of attention at
shows.

The 16" and 19" front wheels were options, we actually had a MF 135 on 19" fronts, A grey/Gold on 19" and a MF 4cyl diesel 35, Exactly the same tractor as the Grey/Gold but on 16"
Early Red/Grey tractors have the holes for the bonnet badges still punched, but "Ferguson System" decals fitted, our Red/Grey did not have the holes, but still had FE35 printed in the tractormeter (revcounter)

Thanks Sam. Another reason I think it is fairly unique is the fact that it is petrol. Most of the photos I see of restored ones are diesel. Also to be manufactured in the first month of production is a plus. Another intriguing little point is the fact that most of the castings have "<MHF>". Nice.
 
Massey-Ferguson seemed to carry on using The < MHF > logo on their castings long after the Harris name was dropped. I remember seeing those on our 1969 1100 tractor.
 
I love how some of the tractors indoors have drip pans underneath them. I thought it was something only I had to do when bringing my old girls in the shop.
