AMP METER

Can anyone send me just the wiring diagram for the ampmeter? I have tried this take the white wire from alternator to ACC on ignition switch, red wire from alternator to battery side of ignition switch and the large wire on the side of alternator to the amp meter - side and from amp meter + side to pos. battery connection. It does not charge the meter moves a little to plus.
This on a 1950 massy harris ferguson with 12 volt system.

I just installed an alternator and wired mine like yours except for ammeter. White excite wire to Acc term on 4 position Sw. Red sense wire back to battery term on Sw or in my case battery side solenoid. Should amount to same thing in the end.
Large red wire on Alt + to battery or in my case to the lug where the battery + cable runs to. Same thing in the end. You have an ammeter is the only difference, Sure your battery is not fully charged? Check you voltage across batt terms with engine running and not running. If it is not charging volts will be the same. If it is charging you should see at least 13 volts or more. You will find most all wiring diaphragms with sense wire hooked up wrong according to what GM did. You want to read the volts back at where the load is taken from. Good luck.

I changed mine to a voltmeter... I never could figure out what an ammeter was trying to tell me... :roll:

Thanks i took a volt meter off and put the amp meter on. It ran good with the volt meter, i found a wiring diagram for amp meter and wired it but it did not show it charging. I pulled the battery and alternator and had both checked and other than the battery needing a charge both were okay. So i reinstall both and jump started it and the amp meter was showing a good charge. So i turn it off to try to adjust the idle speed. Tried to restart and now it will not fire, pulled spark plug and nothing. This thing will run you crazy.
