FUEL LEAK

I need help with a fuel leak on an AD3-152 engine in a MF-135. I have a leak at the top of the injector pump where the leaver is connected that shuts off the engine. Is it just a matter of taking the nut off that holds the arm on that connects to the leaver rod and replacing some type of seal or gasket or is it much more complicated? I’m no mechanic but have tinkered on gas engines in years past but know absolutely nothing about diesel engines. I have heard that if I get air in the fuel lines I have a problem so I’ve been careful to never run it out of fuel so haven’t had that experience yet. However I was hoping that this leak was something I could fix myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and a diagram would be very helpful as I have not yet found one on line. Thanks,

Your problem has been covered before on the forum.I will just say do not take off the cover before you read how to do it. It is most important that springs underneath the cover are replaced exactly as they were. Any misplacement will lead to problems. The job is straight forward though. Use the search facility.

Okay, my tractor is now running again without any fuel leaks. I did do a search of the forum and found some really good information concerning this procedure. I found a great detailed post by Tom-NorthCenTX that gave it step by step. Being a real novice I didn’t realize at first that Tom actually started with step two. For someone like me step one is to “shut off the fuel”. Once I realized that the pump couldn’t possibly hold that much fuel I shut off the fuel and was able to move right along with the project as per Tom’s post. One other thing I might mention that might help someone in the future is that the little short shaft and spring that is used to attach the larger governor spring is real easy to lose and according to the guy at the local MF dealership, where I bought the 4 o-rings and the gasket for a total of $5.12, is that the small shaft and spring usually end up falling down inside the pump which brings on a lot more work. I’m proud to say that I did not lose that shaft or spring though I did misplace the governor spring for a while but did eventually find it. I do appreciate the help I received from this forum and hope my report back can help someone sometime. Thanks to all.
