Check to the left under "Research & Info" under serial numbers. What is somewhat unique about Massey Harris, most numbers don't over lap other models like like old Farmalls. As a matter of fact, even the Standards had a different numbers than the rowcrops.

Massey Harris made three models with 6 cylinder motors!! 101 Super, 101 senior and 44~6. 101 super had Chrysler 6cyl while 101 senior and 44~6 were continental 6cyls.

The serial numbers I have show your tractor to be a 1939-101-super.The chrysler engine has the distributor on the left hand side of engine. The chrysler engine uses a belt driven govenor. The distributor on the continental is on the top of the engine. The 101&101 super used a 201 cubic inch engine from 1938 to mid 1940.Then the cubic in was raised to 217 cubic inches until end of production in 1942.The original engine color is black. If the engine was replaced it was painted aluminum color.Hope this info is helpful to you.

Where are you getting serial number - it looks to me to be too long. Should be a tag riveted to frame - or if its a 44-6, the serial number will also be steel stamped into top of left side of transmission.

Later tractors from 40's were mostly prefix like 44GR followed by 4 or 5 digits. Even 201, 202, and 203 were mostly 5 digits.

Assuming s/n is 356189, it looks like it must be a 1939 101 or 101 Senior with a 201 ci Chrysler 6 cyl.
