Massey Harris I 244 Info Needed

I just bought an I244 Sabre-netic Magnetic Sweeper. It appears to be complete (minus the rear doors)and it still has the military tags on it. However, someone has removed the original seat and put a more modern seat in its place. Does anyone have pictures of what the Original seat and seat brackets looked like? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi FE,

What is the serial number on your tractor? I have one without the magnet and it is unfortunately painted red and yellow but it has a fresh engine and the original tires still on it. Feel free to email me and we can exchange info.

Glad you have a semi-rare tractor!!

Congratulations on finding one so nearly complete - I have 2001 and 2120 - both less cab and in sad shape. I'm assuming you already know there were 3 versions of this tractor - actually 4 in practice.

s/n 1001-1038 were Navy
s/n 2001-2243 were USAF with PTO
s/n 3001-3427 were USAF without PTO

And there were US Army Corps of Engineers versions which appear to come from the 3000 series which may not have had cabs

Post some pictures including the tags or you are welcome to email me off list.

Best, Ed

Thanks Ed. Yes, mine is the USAF model with PTO. Serial # 2161. I didn't even know these tractors existed until I happened onto this one. Thanks to everyone here, I'm learning alot about them and I really appreciate all the help!
Here are some pictures.

Hallo.
I have also a I-244 Massey Harris. The cab, generator, hydrolic lifting arms, where removed some 30 years ago, and the magnet was remove even longer ago. The hydrolic pump and valve is still there. Tractor is painted red en yellow like the farm tractors. it has the Original Firestone 14.00-28 road builder tires. The serial no is I244G 2 149. I try to place a picture of it. Greeting from Richard Goselink The Netherlands. PS. I am on Facebook.

Looks like an industrial version of the 44 six sold here. Odd front axle and wheels, different rear wheels and weights than most 44s. Ben
