To retard timing on the Perkins 152 diesel Do you move the injector pump towards the engine or away from it?

Away from the engine. Injection pump turns the same direction as the crankshaft.

Thank you my 205 industrial acts like the timing is too far advanced. I have replaced the starter cables and battery but it still drags over. Engine has been completely rebuilt and it was like this before rebuild. I am going to try changing it to see if that helps. If not I can always turn it back. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks
