How do you determine if a massey 165 has multi power or not? The tractor has a slot in the dash but no lever through it. The tractor has the 3 speed with high and low. Now how do you tell that someone has not removed the multi power lever and linkage and just left it in the low position. Is there a casting number or a spot you can look at the tranny to tell if it has ever had multi power? |

| That slot in the dash panel is there on MultiPower as well as NON-MultiPower tractors. I've got a '71 MF150 that I bought new, so I know it's entire life history. There is a slot, covered with a plastic snap in strip. It's a 4X2 transmission that was never offered with MultiPower. |

| | my friend once bought a MF 175 3 speed with h/l transmission at a (what you buy is what you get sale). the mulit power slot had been very professionally covered. So he thought it was not a multi power tractor. Not so, the multipower fuction was not working so they just took the dash lever off and covered the spot. the old tractor had no brakes and without brakes, you cannot stop a non fuctioning multipower tractor on the down hill. Wow, what a trip driving that old tractor, it only had low range. He did not give much for it, but he did not get much, was very dangerous to drive on the road, did not matter too much in the field as you could alway let the tool down to stop it. also, it did not drive to well either, front end was worn out, so on the road it was a thrill a minute. i only drove it once on the road and that was enough for me. just check it out before you buy!!!!!!!!!!! |

| If you look under the filters on this 65 you will see a rod going down through a rubber boot/bellows into the gearbox. That rod actuates the multi-power, tractors without Multi will have no hole in the gearbox at that position. Sam |
