What is a 44-6

I see them with a 4 cylinder engine and under tractor data there isn't any mention of a 6 cyl. engine.

Is there a 444-6???????????

44-6,s were built from 1947-51,they used a 226 cu in Continental engine same as in the 101 Senior,6,657 were built, there is no such thing as a 444-6.

The 6 stands for 6 cylinder,they had less power than the 4 cylinder.

this is funny because i'm looking at the same model tractors right now. The 444 had a Massey Harris 4 cyl engine, live pto and hyd along with a 10 speed trans. The 44-6 had five speed trans no live pto or live hyd, and had a six cyl flat head (226 cubic inch) continental engine. they do sound great. I was told that the engine in the 444 (277cubic inch?) was also built by continental. I tring to decide which one to get!

101 and 101 Super were made by Chysler, the 101 and 102 Senior made by Continental.

Well you are kinda right.The 101 super was a Crysler engine and the 101 senior was a continental.

To be precise, the 444 gas is a Continental H-277 and the diesel is a Continental HD-277.
