MF 235 problem

Friend has a 235 gasser with Z145A 6000 stamped on the block. He wants to put electronic ignition in. The distributer tag is gone. Parts guy said it does not look like the typical Delco-Remy distributer, and said there was another type that was sometimes used. Anyone know anything about this?

I believe that one had the distributor cap held by clips, the other by screws. Not sure which was which off the top of my head though.

Early MF Delco distibutors used cap hold down clips, yours is late type with screws holding the cap in place.

His parts guy said it may be a "petrolite" or something. Any ideas on that?

Go look at the Agco parts website. The hour meter runs off the distributor.

Prestolite, don't know if they are around anymore they were a supplier of OEM and aftermarket electrical parts mostly automotive or power equipment. Made distributors, generators, alternators, points, starters and batteries and probably a lot of stuff I don't know about
