MF180 Power Steering Pump

The pump on my 180 diesel has "blown" the o ring twice recently. The pump also seems to be very hot. Could my relief valve be stuck? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, doorman

Hi, I had a UK 165 recently where the pump was running 'hot'. You could actually see steam coming off it when hot. The answer in this instance was to change the filter. Its something that usually gets forgotten about when all the others are changed. On this side of the pond there are two different size filters and will probably be the same your side. Measure it up before ordering.

Thanks, the filter was changed last fall, but all the foam from fluid mixing with air might have plugged it. I don't know if it always runs hot, because I never needed to touch it. If I can find my gauge and fittings I will check it to see if pressure releif valve is working. doorman

Hi, what oil are you using? This side of the pond it should be ATF- Automatic Transmission Fluid. There is an alternative for you which is a non-foaming transmission oil but I don't the spec.
