I bought the 175 with a MF loader that I was looking at. Now I'm wondering about some things;

1, What year is it? I can't find the serial number. I looked for evidence of the tag on the panel below the steering column but found none. Are there any other alternate locations for the serial number?
2, The loader is powered by the internal pump and the loader speed is pretty slow. Is there a way to speed it up with a bigger pump without mounting an external pump?
3, The lift arms travel to the up position no matter what position the control levers are in. When the lift lever is in the down position; I can push them down by my body weight.
4, The lift arm motion is jerky and actually has a pulsation to it when raised or pushed down by hand when the valve is in the lowered position.

Thanks

At the minute your remotes are just plumbed into the very small gear type aux pump What MF recomend for loader work is to take a pipe from a selector valve on the top of the lift cover and join it into the pressure pipe coming out of your PTO plate. This may mean discarding the steel pipe, but both pipes need a non return valve and be sure that they are fitted in the right direction.The valves are to ensure that whichever pump is strongest does not put backpressure through the weaker pump. Flow rate should be about 13 gpm with both pumps combined. All my tractors are plumbed this way, but it does not seem to be a common thing in USA. We never fit front pumps here for loader use, and we do a lot of loader work feeding cattle. I have never damaged a multi-power by using the hydraulics this way....as I said MF supply the kit over here and recomend using it . The only drawback is when you open your isolater valve on the lift cover, to power the remotes, you then have to put the quadrant into constant pumping and the rear lift is isolated....but it is simple to unlock the valve again if you do need the rear lift, you still have the slow aux pump to power the loader.

Are you sure you are using the correct section of the quadrant?
Do not use the pressure control section, it is for setting pressure on a hydraulic tensioned baler or when using the MFweight transfer hitch. Instead, pull the draft lever all the way up and use the lever nearest to the seat in the position control section, If using soil engaging implements use draft control lever with position control set for the height you want to carry the implement when it is OUT OF THE GROUND. Basic rule is position control for height above ground, draft for depth below ground. For max speed/power to your remotes set the draft lever fully up and put the position lever in Constant pumping section.
Pulsating lift could be a stuck valve in the pump or just a dirty filter, especially if the pump is slow, see my pic for filter position, It is the round cannister near the pto inspection plate, remove the wire and unscrew the top and lift out the washable filter. It can be acessed through the PTO lever inspection cover. If the tractor has multi-power or and auxillary internal pump then the two pumps can be combined, you need two feed pipes WITH NON RETURN VALVES a 'T' piece and a large return pipe from your spool valves. Aux pump tractors will have tapping points for outlet and return on the PTO inspection plate with a connecting/transfer plate bolted on. The pipes have to be removed inside before the inspection plate can be removed on these tractors.

Sorry, I do not know what is the problem with youR 3 point, but it could be control valve sticking, The PTO plate I mentioned before does not come off Multi-power tractors without disconnecting the pipes internally...so to get at the filter the top lid is going to have to come off. Remember to remove the little roller between the control forks before lifting the lid. This is accessed from the response control side. Another thing ...does your tractor have a plate with 3 bolts just below the hyd pump, bottom of trans casing? If it has you can access the filter from below.
Sam.....Sorry I can't reach over and fix it for you!!!!

Mine does not have the cover with the three bolts on the bottom. I was working it today and oil started leaking from the weep hole with the cotter pin sticking out on the bottom side of the trans housing......I may as well spit it this winter and make it a project.

Sam,
I tried the controls in all positions including the suggested ones and saw no difference in loader speed. I included some pictures, The loader is hooked to one of the remotes which connect to some sort of hydraulic block and then go back to the lines on the PTO inspection cover. A few more questions;
1, The tractor has Multipower; does this mean that it has two hydraulic pumps?
2, The loader does not pulsate like the lift arms do, could it be that the loader is powered by a different pump than the lift arms?
If the two pumps are combined, is there any chance of compromising the pressure to the Multipower while operating the loader. Could any damage to the Multipowr result?
3, The lift arms still travel to the up position no matter what. Could there be debris or wear in the control valve causing this or possibly an adjustment problem.
4, What type of pumps are they? Piston, Gear, vane?
5, How many GPM do the pumps put out? Are they both the same size? I figure that I need a minimum of 10 GPM or preferably 13 GPM for good loader operation.
Sorry to be long winded with my questions. I just wanted to find out more before I tear into it. Oh...one more; any thoughts on the serial number or year?
Thanks,
Dave
