One more . I was told that the battery on my pony was being overcharged , just remove the battery to charge and notice that the posive wire was conected to the negative on the battery and the ground on the tractor was conected on the positive on the battery . ANY ONE can tell me what is wrong and how to fix? ty

As noted Pony's are originally positive ground. They only have a simple field regulated generator. The field wire should come from the light switch. The light switch has two positions for two different positions for charging. One is direct to 6v power for high charge, the other has a resistor for low charge. If your field wire is connected directly to the ignition switch it will cause overcharging.

The battery needs to be hooked up while running to operate the distributor ignition.

Make sure that the generator is a three brush generator, works with the light switch. Two brush generator will overcharge battery with light switch.
