Doug Most times the MP will work in low MP, unless both the low range clutch and high range are warped from heat due to slippage. What happens is the clutch slips due to a poor PS pump, causing heat that warps the clutch. Then when you switch to the other range both clutches will still pull...Causing even more friction and heat. Usually the high range clutch is the one that warps. I have a neighbor with this problem right now....he can still use it but it is a bit jumpy. We figure it may not be the clutches that warped...but the lip seals on the MP piston may be cracked. We will look at it possibly later this fall. Using the MP is easy,,,Just put the tractor in the gear you desire, and high or low range. Then swich from low to high MP and back again. All the MP does is give you the ability to get a little extra speed from each of the 8 regular gears and two reverses. Giving you 16 speeds forward and 4 reverse. One thing I am careful with my MPs is to idle back when shifting from High range 4th to the high range MP. In this gear...and even in third. There is such an immediate increase in speed that the clutch has to slip a bit, unles you clutch, idle down, MP shift, then let out the clutch. It is the same as shifting your standard transmission in your truck. Speed up, clutch, foot off the gas pedal, shift, release the clutch. Wayne [Reply]   [No Email]
