MF 30 Lift cover, draft adjustment

I first want to say how thankful I am for the assistance I've received on this list, especially from David P.

I'm adjusting the draft linkage on the lift cover on my MF 30. I have the lift cover out of the tractor, and it's up side down on my work bench. I have rebuilt the hydraulic pump, replaced the piston and cylinder, and replaced all the o-rings and seals.

My MF factory manual (Adjustments, part 4 b) says "Move the `draft` control lever between the two sector marks on quadrant. (Rear sector mark is approximately 4 3/8" from fully up position on quadrant)"

I can't find the sector marks the manual refers to. Is the draft control lever just supposed to be in the middle of its travel (half way between fully up, and fully down)? How critical is this position to the draft control adjustment?

I would be grateful for any advice or assistance.

Probably too much old paint, or all worn out, but carry the manual out there, study the 'engravings' or drawing of the selector and dots , and you can compare this to the words and arrows if you can see them at all. Good luck, mine wasn't so lucky.

Hello,
Thanks for your acknowledgement. The sector marks are important as it places the linkage in the 'neutral' position as a benchmark when carrying out the adjustments. The photo shows the position of the sector marks on a 165 quadrant. They will be in approximately the same position on yours. They are of course the lines across the quadrant near the upper arrow.
