I have found similar symptoms when starved for fuel. Try pulling out the choke a bit when it starts and see if it smooths out. If so check your filters/sediment bowl. Every 6 months or so I have to remove the sediment bowl from the tank and clean out debris left behind from the previous owner's attempt to seal the tank with POR 15. It now flakes off and plugs things up.

Check the coil. Sounds like it is breaking down when it gets warmed up.

Our 35 was doing the same thing 1st check for spark when it dies. If it has spark check the fuel strainer for a partial blockage causing it to run then starve for fuel.
