can anyone tell me if a mh 266 cont. gas head will work on a mh 277 cont. gas engine. thanks again. |

| heads will interchange they are basically identical the difference in compression is a result of increase in bore from 3.78 in a 44 to 4 inch in a 444 the blocks will interchange also except for the fact that the 444 has a flange center main bearing instead of thrust washers on end of cramkshaft hope this helps |

| I have never interchanges them, I know the short blocks are different, but I think the heads are the same. They take the same head gasket and thermostat and stuff. The temp sender location may be in a different place though, but some of the 260's were on one side or the other also. Book says compression on a 260 at 120 psi and on a 277, 130 psi. There is a casting # under the valve cover, could check that between the two. |
