I ordered bearing #1850526M91 for my MF65, and it seems to large to fit in my steering housing. Also the center of the bearing is so large that my snap ring wont hold it on the shaft. My tractors serial number is 673426. Everywhere I search it says this is the correct bearing for my tractor. But it definitely wont fit, so what am I missing?? I actually tried using my old bearing but its in too bad of shape. And I havent disassembled everything yet to measure my old bearing cup. Everything was cleaned and there was nothing to foul the bearing and keep it from fitting in.

Well I picked up a bearing today from napa autoparts for $11.00. It wasnt an exact fit, bit after shaving down the O.D. of the race it fit perfectly. Also had to build my steering shaft up to match the I.D. more closely.

It was well worth it in order to save $160!!! 8)

Glad to hear you found a way around the outragous cost. I have a power steering sector that needs 300 worth to fix.

The power steering units on a 35 have a larger shaft and larger bearings, maybe that's where the mix up is.

Thats how it seems, the bearing is alot larger then my old one, inside and outside diameter both.

Originally the bottom bearing was in good shape, but the top bearing wasnt. I even tried switching them around (thats why the top bearing looks good in the pics) but as soon as I tried it the balls jumped out of the bottom one, they are worn down and the bearing cup has small pieces busted off it.

Are you sure the box is an original for that model? Reason I ask is that there is no snap ring in the worm shaft, retaining the bearing in place, on the MF65 steering box.
The ball race is sandwiched between the outer cup, and the profiled section of the worm shaft.
Can you post a pic or two of yours? It may help us identify it for you,
Evan.

Well I took everything back apart and pulled out my shaft. And the ball bearings had already fallen out into the housing. So I measured the old bearing cup and its roughly 2-3/8" OD. And the ID is 1-1/2". I guess Ill have to check with a local dealer if nobody has a better idea.

Have you ever tried going to federal moguls website and going
to their technical catalog? It has a place where you can put in
the id and od of a bearing you are looking for and it will list
several bearings that are either an exact match or a few
thousandths different in one of the dimensions. Massey lists a
bearing for my old DEO rake and it isn"t right. I used their site
and got one for it...the only difference was it was .020 thinner
which didn"t matter.

Thanks Jason, I might try that. I just came from the local dealership and they supposedly ordered the correct one for me but its gonna cost $170.00!!! The part number they ordered is 1035054m91.

I tried googling this number and didnt get many results for it though. Really wish I could find it cheaper and even if its the right one.
