So I have MF 135 45hp perkins, 3cycl diesel, not sure about the exact year, and I recently changed the transmission and hydraulic oil. The oil I put in was Motomaster TDH, Transmission, differential and hydraulic. Now my problem is that my 3 point hitch does not go up anymore. The oil I drained was milky white, so im guessing it had water mixed with it. I didn't really have time to fully clean out the reservoir and filter(not really sure how to get to the filter), and now the oil I put in is also milky white. I also noticed the difference in thickness, the oil I drained was more thicker than the oil put in. Should I use a different oil like Universal Tractor Fluid for the tranny and hydraulics? Thanks very much. |

| Where are you located? If you're in N. America use MF Perma-Tran oil. I have tried universal oils that say they meet the MF specs. but in operation the MF oil works the best. |

| Been there done that with fresh oil turning milky again. On the Masseys you need to drain the oil for 1-2 days, then refill with 2 or 3 gallons of diesel and a couple pints of 90% rubbing alcohol, then run the tractor for 10 minutes. This will flush out all the junk and water. Clean your filter with diesel and a paint brush. Then refill with the right oil, I use Universal Transmission Hydraulic fluid (UTF). Stop filling at the low mark on your dipstick or you may get a leak at the rear axle. You can use the red silicone to seal the left side cover back up after filter cleaning. |

| Only use universal 15w30 or 15w40 oil in these tractors and you do need to clean that filter, it is accessable(just!) behind the pto lever inspection plate. and though it is washable it is better to fit new. 1st pic is the filter took apart. 2nd pic is the location of the filter, it is the round cannister tied with wire, open the wire tie and unscrew the filter, refit the wire after replacing the filter. 3rd pic shows the groove in the PTO gear that the lever has to slot into when replacing. | Thanks for the replies, I was able to get the filter out and man there is a lot of junk built up in there. Samn40-in your 3rd picture directly to the right of the lever, the smooth slot. The other end of the pto lever fits in there? Thanks alot |
