We have been looking at a massey pony. The tractor looks in pretty good shape. Rear tires are older tires not weather checked to bad. Has a belly mounted sickle mower. Planning on driving it soon to see how it runs. They are asking $3000 I think that's a little high. Any comments on the Pony, is there any known problems I should be looking for? Kind have been a Farmall person and just now looking at the massey. Thanks |

| We also thought that was too high.We were going to make an offer but decided he would not consider it. It is not restoed front to back(I have not heard it run). We have a Farmall Cub we restored and can do what we need done with it. It's nice to be able to ask someone who knows the tractor. Thanks alot for all the replies. Randy |

| I agree thats a high price. Talk him down to less than 1800. If he wont, I'd walk away. Thats a restored front to back price--maybe. |

| last summer i was an old fellers place .
he had a poney with a loader on it , he said he could not turn the wheel with a load in the bucket .
so beeing the hand type guy he was he mounted a rack and pion from a corsica or cavaler .
now he can steer it with a bucketfull now . |

| $3000 is not a little high, it is aLOT high. The earlier Pony's came with manual lift, the later ones came with hydraulic lift. A Pony like you are describing may be worth $1200 to $1500 max. One that is completely rebuilt with hydraulics and brand new tires might fetch that much, but even then??? Keep looking. I don't think I am that unreasonable. |

| Older Pony's can get excessive steering wear. The steering gear housing loses the oil, and then steering really wears out. No new ones made. Parts are hard to find. Also the steering knuckles. When they wear out, new ones cannot be purchased... Only from a bone yard. |
