| | Here's something to try, See if your PTO works at all. If your PTO spins and can hold a light load, then you know you are at least getting power TO the charge pump. Then I would pull the charge pump cover off, and see if something looks astray there. Dumb question that may have been answered in an earlier post, but have you removed the strainer on the bottom of the rear end housing (10 or 12 3/8" bolts I think) to see if that is plugged? That is one possibility, but also there are rubber washers on the charge pump pickup tube, that if they are leaking the charge pump cannot prime. These are visible if the charge pump cover on the top of the rear end housing is removed, it's about a 1" vertical tube held by two tapered head screws. |

| Start with charge pump driveline. With charge pump removed try to turn PTO clutch drum with a prybar, it should NOT turn IF both couplers at ends of front PTO input shaft splines are OK, if it does turn one or both spline couplers have stripped splines. Most start with a clutch split, remove clutch to access spline adapter that bolts in flywheel. Front shaft can be pulled out to look at rear spline. If also bad rear PTO drop box must come off, Pto clutch short shaft removed as it is in rear coupler also. Rear coupler access is by trans-diff joint split only. A really big job if both couplers and shafts are worn. |

| Before you start taking off the charge pump to replace or repair. Open up an inspection hole somewhere and start the tractor. We had a 1080 with the same type of charge pump. We replaced the charge pump with new one...put the tractor back together, and same problems. We found out one of the supply lines to the charge pump had a crack in it. When we looked in with the tractor running we could see the oil spraying all around. The crack was on the bottom where we couldnt see it. Wayne |

| Start with the charge pump. The radial pump can't suck oil. It has to be pressure fed. If the charge pump isn't providing oil you will have nothing. All the hyd systems run off the one pump in that tractor. |
