Sloppy in the linkage? Have to push far down on the pedal to get it moving, or it starts moving smoothly with slight pedal pressure but then cuts out or slips when up against a hill or digging bucket in? If the linkage is sloppy, I'd start there first by confirming the pedal movement translates into shaft movement where it enters the trans. Beyond that, I'll have to look in the manual, which I did not get to today. Will hopefully get out there tomorrow. MK

Looks like our MF40 industrial which is a '74. The loader on ours is a model 34, but yours has the horizontal control valve where ours has the vertical one. Can't remember if that signifies a different model, can just remember it being pointed out in the manual. Will try to remember to check in manual at shop tomorrow. Not sure why, but this seems like it may be earlier to me. It's a torque converter drive with forward and reverse clutch packs. Could be the linkage to the activating valve is disconnected or very sloppy? Is the oil level OK? Check at dipstick by right heel. Did it stop suddenly or has it been problematic for a while? No ID tag below left side of wheel on dash?

Does look like an MF 40. Does it have a 3 cylinder engine? Is the loader a model 34 and what model is the backhoe? If it is a 3 cylinder, look on the bottom of the oil pan and it should have the date it was cast. That could help confirm it's an MF 40.

That is a great help. It has been sloppy for a while now has stopped all together. ID tag was removed at some point and repainted. Hence issue with ID. Oil was OK when checked.
