Foot Throttle for a MF35

Hi All,
I saw a post on the Harry Ferguson section regarding a Ferguson with a foot throttle. I have a MF 35 Ser. # 241525. Is there or was there ever a foot throttle for this? Or is there one from a different model that could cross fit on to the MF 35? And last and probably most important ...does any body have a picture of a foot operated throttle and linkage that they could post on here? My dad used to have a VAC Case with a foot throttle and it was the handiest thing. One on my Mf 35 would be great. Thanks.

Hello La Vern,
The foot throttle is incredibly useful. Is your 35 a 3 cylinder? The attached image is from the UK 135 parts book. In addition to the foot rest and pedal assembly you will need the quadrant 31 and the rod 28. There may be some modification needed. The foot rest etc should bolt straight on whether you have a 3 or 4 cylinder. Whatever time is taken to get it working will be well spent.

Thank You David for your quick response. My MF 35 is the Z134, 4 cylinder gas. It looks like it could be a pretty complicated process, but as you say it would be worth it. My workshop manual has only a hand throttle set-up listed and shown. Do you suppose these parts are still available, Either from MF or aftermarket, maybe even on this site? I'll have to check it out.

If any one has an photograph of this setup, I think it would be extremely useful. Thanks

i too drove an old case 530 with the foot throttle. I did like it but have never seen the reason for it on my TO-35.

Note to file: if you do build one, be sure it will not stick or hang and send you flying through a fence/barn at full engine speed.

it must not have been a popular option or more old ferg/fords would have one installed.

There is a kit available from Sparex here in Australia and England that has most of the parts you require. Part no. is S.42691.
copy and paste here for a reference.

Thanks Evan. Now how do I find a Sparex dealer and get more information on that kit? Do they have a distributor in the US? I'm located in the North West corner of Pennsylvania. Any place near here?

The 202/203/204/205 Workbull Industrial tractors have a foot throttle. Maybe you could find someone parting one out and see if it would work. The 202 is very similar to the 35 in many ways, so much so that the manual from a 35 works well for my 202.
MM Repair in New Egypt NJ had a 202 they were parting out that I bought the hood from a couple years ago, you might try giving them a call.

Most of the British built 100 series onwards were fitted as standard
with a foot throttle. real handy piece of kit!
The first picture is a foot throttle on a French built MF25
The next 2 photos are of one being fitted to a 65 I am restoring for
a customer. Then there is the quadrant that David mentioned, it
links the hand throttle and foot throttle together so as the foot
throttle can override the hand throttle. The other pics just show
some differences in foot throttles. The pressed steel as opposed to
cast steel throttle is on a French built MF155.

Sam , Thank you for the pictures. That sheds a lot of light on how they work and are fitted. As I mentioned in my first post , we had one on a VAC Case and it was the handiest thing. I remember as a teenager cultivating corn with the VAC and with the foot throttle you are able to adjust your speed on the go much better than the hand throttle and still kept an eye on the cultivator location. Pretty much similar to driving a car, it becomes second nature. I can imagine with my MF 35 it would be very handy while plowing snow too, rear blade scraping and I'm sure many other things. And Maxwell99 I understand your concern and agree on the importance of getting the linkage set up correctly.

Again thanks everyone for all of your information. Another reason I like this forum so much.
