identity of this tractor

We have owned this tractor since 1980.
I think it is a Massey Ferguson or Massey Harris,
not sure.
On the right side of the chassis (below gear
shifter) are the markings "MHF 181 402 MI"
Can someone help me with the manufacturer, date of
model and what it is worth.

Serial Tag is on left side below steering wheel,
will have MH50---- What is the asking price. Prices are different in location.

56 or 57 the picture is up side down so it's hard to tell so just a guess at $3,000

The scallopped hood is most obvious way to tell, the MF does not have that but does carry the MH ferguson name on the engine tag.

Value can vary quite a bit depending on where you are. The MH50 and the MF50 are basically the same and I'm not sure that having the earlier MH50 makes any difference in price. For some comparisons here is what I have had to give over the last few years for 50s in northern New York and Vermont:

1955 MH50 (for parts, not running) $500
1959 MF50 with boom pool and 6 foot blade $1800
1959 MF50 $2000
1963 MF50 Diesel with MF38 loader $1650
1964 MF50 $1500

None of these where showpieces but except for the parts MH50 they all run and work, however some needed fixed first. The $2000 1959 MF50 was purchased back in 2005 when prices seemed to be higher than now. All the rest where bought in the last couple years.
