Fuel leak at lift pump...is there a rubber gromet?

Is there supposed to be some sort of rubber or fiber grommet that fits inside the fuel connections before you attach the lines? This is for a 205 industrial.

I replaced the fuel pump and the lines are leaking at the fitting for the inlet and outlet.

On my primary filter, I have some sort of fiber thing that goes into the hole, then the line and fitting butts up to this fiber deal and maybe that seals the thing...

Or is sealing supposed to occur from a brass compression thing that goes on the line and the fitting smashes it into the hole taper?

Anyone know? Thanks.

If you have brass olives on the fuel lines, they will be worn "into shape", and won't re-seal in the new lift pump. New brass olives should be fitted. The later "style" of seal was a rubber compression olive, but the pipes used here, had a distinct "flange" on the pipe.
I have fitted the rubber type olives onto the earlier type piping, after removing the original brass olive, with success. Just remember that there is nothing "holding" the pipe & olive into the lift pump, other than the pressure applied to the rubber when the nut is tightened up.

My 2 cents worth.
Evan.

Great, thanks. I did try a new brass olive, but my fitting bottomed out before it tightened the line, in other words, I could still wiggle the fuel line. I imaging I probably need a longer fitting...I'll try that...thanks again.
