Clutch adjustment

I now have the clutch installed and adjusted the pto set screws to .080". I am now supposed to check each release lever. I do not have the massey tool, is there a universal clutch tool or something i can use. I massey dealer is closed until tues, and I was hoping to have the tractor back together this weekend.

Roll the tractor back together and tighten two bolts one on each side. Put the PTO in gear.Have a freind push the clucth down and you go to the back of the tractor and see if the Pto will turn freely with a 15" Cresent wrench. Sometimes this is just the best way to go on rebuilt and worn parts. Make your adjustments trial and eror. You will have it done by Monday

You can use a staight edge to get them all at the same level and don't forget to adjust the free-play. Also make sure the return springs on the throw-out bearing are strong enough to pull the pedal to the top.

Adjust all three of the screws in the clutch fingers so there are 2 or 3 threads sticking out below the thickest part of the finger. Then using a ruler, measure from a flat spot on the PTO clutch disc the distance to the top of the head of one of the screws, then adjust the other two to the same height. I have the adjustment tool, but have found if you use the above method, your fingers will be set to within a few thousandths of an inch to what they would be with the tool.

I will do that and then varify with a micrometer, or feelerguage to get the gap completely equal across the 3 bolts. Thanks for the advice I will let you know how it goes.
